Overview

Urban Peak: The Motheship is a dynamic new campus in Denver, Colorado that caters to the complex needs of youth facing homelessness. The existing shelter is being replaced with a state-of-the-art building and supporting site amenities, along with comprehensive services, that assist and prepare residents for the transition from homelessness to self-determined, fulfilled lives.

Flow Design Collaborative partnered with Shopworks Architecture to apply trauma informed design strategies by creating outdoor spaces where youth feel valued, nurtured, safe, and supported so that they can break the cycle of homelessness. Passive and active spaces coexist and provide residents with flexibility and choice for connecting with each other and the outdoor environment. Landscape amenities include covered patios and BBQ, sport court, community gardens, flexible rooftop garden and a fitness deck. The approach to the building is welcoming, safe and provides amenities like bench seating, pedestrian lighting, bike storage, and a ride share mobility hub.
